Come with us to the Takou River Cottages and experience a comfortable and luxurious self-catering accommodation directly on the Takou River. Beautiful views, relaxed atmosphere, peace, and unique natural surroudings await you.
In the remoteness of New Zealand, numerous cottages have been built on the Takou River, surrounded by the beautiful nature of the New Zealand landscape in the north of the country. Only a short distance separates the Magic Cottages on the Takou River from the Kerikeri on the Bay of Islands. The cottages are situated on the peaceful and beautiful banks of the picturesque Takou River.
Watch how the tide changes as the river is connected to the sea and experience what it means to live alone in nature. Go on a discovery tour around the cottages or discover what treasures the Bay of Islands has in store for you.
Kerikeri Airport is 20 minutes away and Auckland is three and a half hours away.
The lodges are only a few paddle strokes away from the beautiful beach of Takou Bay. Surrounded by 60 hectares of certified grassland and bush land and two hectares of subtropical gardens, the four private cottages, the lodge, and the luxury camp are a true paradise.
Enjoy your stay in your own four walls, without any obligations. Live into the day and take advantage of your own kitchen where you can cook for yourself.
Spend the day completely relaxed, enjoy the view from the whirlpool by the river, and listen to the chirping of the numerous exotic birds.
The cottages include the secluded and romantic Magic Cottages, which has been named one of New Zealand's top ten luxury lodges.
Since you are self-catering during your stay in Takou River, you will find a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need in all cottages.
All cottages are equipped with a super king-size bed, feather pillows and blankets, bath and beach towels, toiletries, fresh flowers, books, and magazines. All cottages also have their own romantic open-air clawfoot tub on the sun terrace overlooking the gardens.
Magic Cottage - The self-contained studio is tucked away in the middle of the sub-tropical garden and provides ample privacy. On a private wooden terrace that winds around the cottage, you can enjoy the unparalleled views of the water - ideal for honeymooners.
The cottage has a bathroom and an outdoor bathtub. Since you are self-catering, you will find a gas barbecue, indoor and outdoor seating, a small kitchen with refrigerator, gas stove and oven and of course all the necessary kitchen utensils. You will also find an iPod docking station and a sitting area by the window in the cottage.
Internet, TV and cell phone reception are not available in your cottage. In the inn, however, you will have all this at your disposal.
River Cottage - River Cottage offers the perfect retreat with its cozy wood fireplace in winter and a romantic open-air clawfoot tub in summer. The River Lodge is the perfect accommodation for couples. The King Bedroom overlooks the garden and has a bathroom with shower. The second room is a dressing room that can be converted into a Queen Bedroom that can accommodate two couples or a small family of up to four people and has an extra bathroom.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, oven, espresso/coffee maker, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishes, and all necessary kitchen utensils. Enjoy the benefits of a private sun terrace with sun loungers, and your own private bathtub.
Located next to the Summer Cottage it is equipped with: TV, DVD and CD player, WiFi, iPod docking station, candles and fresh flowers. Again, there is no cell phone reception, but you would have to use the phone in the inn.
Summer Cottage - The two-bedroom cottages are similar in design and construction to the River Cottages and are ideal for couples or up to four people. Both bedrooms have king and queen-size beds and overlook the garden and have a bathroom with shower. A bright and spacious hallway with antique Kauri steps leads you to the open plan living and dining area with kitchenette.
There is a barbecue on the sun terrace and inside, as in the other cottages, you will find a fully equipped kitchen. However, you will not find a TV, internet or cell phone reception here. Therefore, the guest house is at your disposal.
Spa treatments and the enchanting whirlpool can be booked by you as a guest on-site.
Thanks to its outstanding location in the north of New Zealand, you can explore the Bay of Islands, Paihia, Russel and Kerikeri undisturbed. Due to the rather pleasant subtropical climate, the North of New Zealand is an attractive destination all year round. As guests at Takou River, take the opportunity to make exciting trips in a kayak or canoe and try your hand at fishing. The surroundings around the Takou River will also tempt you to go out into nature for many exciting trips.
