Location/Surroundings

Majestically poised on the crest of a mountain, Phinda Mountain Lodge commands dramatic vistas over the surrounding landscape. Phinda Private Game Reserve has 23,000 acres of protected land in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Experience a destination that is one of the best in Africa—observe the wild animals, 415 bird species and the Big Five. The region is particularly well known for cheetah and rare black rhino encounters. Since it has seven different ecosystems, Phinda is often referred to as one of the “Seven Wonders of the World” because of its vast forests, grasslands and wetlands.

Close to the lodge is the diverse bird world, Lake Sibaya—the largest fresh water lake in South Africa. The Phinda Mountain Lodge is located on a raised slope overlooking the bush and the Lebombo mountains.

The Hotel

Light and space lie at the heart of Phinda Mountain Lodge from the moment you enter the airy inner courtyard. Since the lodge belongs to the renowned &Beyond group, it stands for sustainable and responsible travel combined with comfortable accommodation. In the restaurant, indulge in a tasty pan-African food whilst an incomparable view of the Ubombo Mountains complements your experience. The meals can be enjoyed by the traditional boma, which is illuminated by countless candles and lanterns. Phinda is known for its wonderful experience of luxurious "Bush-Banquets" in nature. The Rooms

The Phinda Mountain Lodge nestles majestically in the mountain ridge and boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes and the endless, blue African sky, you can enjoy your holiday in one of the 25 suites. There are also three family cottages and a family suite with four bedrooms. Each of the suites have its own terrace, so you can be sure to enjoy the views in tranquility.

The Phinda Mountain Lodge’s thatched roofed suites each have a separate bathroom with a shower, in-suite bathroom, a seating area, a minibar, safe and a telephone.

In addition, the suites have an outdoor shower and a private plunge pool to watch the exciting surroundings.

Sport/Fitness

As a guest at Phinda Mountain Lodge, you will receive two daily game drives in the open off-road vehicle in the afternoon and evening, as well as exciting nature walks and exceptional river cruises for free For a fee, the hotel staff will take you to a Zulu village, or an adventure to the Maputaland Beach. Other exciting activities are nighttime turtle sightseeing, Black Rhino trekking on foot, swimming with whale sharks and visiting a wildcat project. Experience special safaris, which include bird sightings, photography tours and up close encounters with rhinos (for a fee).
