Majestically poised on the crest of a mountain, Phinda Mountain Lodge commands dramatic vistas over the surrounding landscape. Phinda Private Game Reserve has 23,000 acres of protected land in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Experience one of the best destinations in Africa—observe the wild animals, 415 bird species and the Big Five. The region is particularly well known for cheetah and rare black rhino encounters. Due to its seven different ecosystems with vast forests, grasslands and wetlands, Phinda is often referred to as one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”.
Close to the lodge lies the diverse bird world, Lake Sibaya—the largest fresh water lake in South Africa. The Phinda Mountain Lodge is located on a raised slope overlooking the bush and the Lebombo mountains.

The Phinda Mountain Lodge is, as its name suggests, nestled in the mountain ridge and boasts majestic views of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy your holiday in one of 25 suites surrounded by beautiful landscapes and the seemingly endless, blue African sky. There are also three family cottages and a family suite with four bedrooms. Each of the suites have its own terrace, so you can be sure to enjoy the views in tranquility.
The Phinda Mountain Lodge’s thatched roofed suites have each a separate bathroom with a shower, an in-suite bathroom, a seating area, a minibar, safe and a telephone.
In addition, the suites have an outdoor shower and a private plunge pool perfect to imerse yourself into and observe the exciting surroundings.
As a guest at the Phinda Mountain Lodge, you will receive two daily game drives in the open off-road vehicle in the afternoon and evening, as well as exciting nature walks and exceptional river cruises for free For a fee, the hotel staff will take you to a Zulu village, or an adventure to the Maputaland Beach. Other exciting activities include nighttime turtle watching, black rhino tracking on foot, swimming with whale sharks and visiting a wildcat project. Experience special safaris, which include bird sightings, photography tours and up close encounters with rhinos (for a fee).
