Surrounded by massive ochre boulders, this camp blends into the landscape, becoming one with the history of this prehistoric land. Wildlife roams along the ancient dry riverbeds in the evening sun, reminding you how precious untouched nature is.
Located between Ugab and the Huab River in the south of Damaraland, Mowani Mountain Lodge is set in endless untouched wilderness with fascinating desert landscapes. Since it is built into the rock, it is difficult to spot it from a distance.
Rare desert-dwelling elephants that have adapted to the conditions over the years, springboks, spitboks and jackals traverse the landscapes around Mowani Mountain Lodge. These animals were carved thousands of years ago in the nearby stones at Twyfelfontein, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Relax in the afternoon by the pool, which thanks to its outstanding location reveals indescribable views of the landscape, enjoy a sundowner and enjoy the luxury in the midst of untouched nature.
Take advantage of the lodge's excursions, which take you, for example, to Tweyfelfontein, or to the elephants and the dunes. For a more relaxing experience, go on walks in nature, where you get very close to the wild animals.
At Mowani, picturesque desert impressions, extraordinary geological formations, archaeological attractions and a great variety of desert flora and fauna combine to create a unique combination. The design and layout of the main buildings are reminiscent of a small African village, cleverly integrated into the surrounding rocky landscape. Here are the lounge and the restaurant, where the delicious meals of a varied cuisine are enjoyed.
Of course, your physical well-being is also taken care of at the lodge. In the restaurant, open bar and lounge you can get snacks, drinks and hot meals to satisfy your hunger. Here, too, the architecture is modeled on that of African villages, making you feel like you're at home with the locals.
The rooms of Mowani Mountain Lodge are secluded amidst the stone cliffs, laid out like an African village. The design of the rooms is inspired by their surroundings, as elegance and earth colors are also reflected in the interior.
