Experience the metropolis in the early morning hours.
Your guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel early in the morning at around 07:00 AM. Here you can already enjoy the first rays of sunshine and experience how the city, formerly called and still referred to as Saigon, comes to life. Traffic is still relatively manageable at this hour and your local vehicle (an open van without air-conditioning) allows you to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the city.
The first stop is Tao Dan Park, where locals practice their early morning sports, including Tai Chi, aerobics and badminton. Stroll through the park to a small pagoda where you are likely to see several locals performing their daily prayers. Buddhism in Vietnam has a symbiotic relationship with Taoism, Chinese spirituality, as well as aspects of the indigenous Vietnamese religion. Continue to a local market where shoppers haggle over fresh produce. Stroll through the stalls where vendors sell everything from seafood to dried meat, fresh seasonal vegetables, and household goods.
Afterwards, you can "slurp" a fortifying noodle soup together with many Vietnamese at the popular noodle soup restaurant called Pho 24.
You will end the morning with a "Sua Da" (the Vietnamese coffee speciality with condensed milk and ice cream) in one of the busiest coffee houses in the city: a legacy of French coffee houses and a popular meeting place for local students, business people, artists, and trendsetters in the city - and a great place for people-watching!
