Lava Tunnel Expedition

Experience geology from an entirely new perspective during this unique adventure!

Accompanied by an experienced tour guide, step into the extraordinary world of the natural lava tunnel. It winds its way beneath the Le Grand Brûlé lava field. After the last eruption in 2004, these famous underground pathways formed. After two years of cooling off, visitors can now walk its 4-kilometer-long tunnels!

Through the different natural formations, an array of structures shaped into a tunnel. Some of its walls are smooth as glass, and others have extraordinary appearances formed by minerals. Your guide will share fascinating information about its geological features.

For this excursion, you should have the right balance on uneven surfaces. You should also not have claustrophobia because the diameter of the tunnel varies between 1 and 3 meters. In some places, you must climb over obstacles or crawl through narrow passages. High-quality and modern equipment such as headlamps, helmets, etc. make the tunnel hikes an unforgettable and safe experience.
