In the middle of the Torres del Paine National Park, which covers around 242,242 hectares, lies the Hotel Salto Chico. The lodge, built like a ship, lies directly on Lake Pehoe and offers a breathtaking view of the Paine Massif. More than 400 species of birds and 60 species of mammals, as well as numerous amphibians, fish, and reptiles, are at home here. The park, whose development is a geological phenomenon and took place over millions of years, was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is not only the southernmost point in the world but also a breathtaking natural spectacle all year round.

Hotel Salto Chico was opened in 1993 as the first hotel project of the explora group. Its location in the middle of the park, directly on Lake Pehoe, and with a view of two of the three towers of the Paine Massif, is unique because it covers almost three hectares of land.

About 53 kilometers from the hotel is the Estancia 2 de enero (January 2 Ranch) where guests can experience the daily life of gauchos and participate in traditional activities of everyday Patagonia life.

In total, the hotel has 44 rooms, which have all the luxurious amenities. You can look forward to panoramic windows that connect the guest directly with nature.

Salto Chico Room — approx. 26 m², the seven rooms offer a magnificent view of the waterfall.

Cordillera Paine Room — approx. 26 m², these 37 rooms entice guests with breathtaking views of Macizo del Paine.

Exploradores Suite — approx. 39 m², the six suites are spacious and promise a magnificent panorama of Macizo del Paine.

Following the half-day and day excursions, guests can relax at the Casa de Baños del Ona (Ona Bathhouse). A heated indoor pool, sauna, and open-air jacuzzis with gorgeous views of Lake Pehoe make relaxation perfect.

Hotel Salto Chico is the base for over 35 excursions undertaken on foot or horseback into the region and has different focuses and levels of difficulty. Guests experience flora and fauna, as well as the traditions of the gauchos, up close and personal, accompanied by bilingual native guides. Special excursions on bird watching or photography courses are also offered.
