This land of myth and wonder lures you to the far north with its magical northern lights, bubbling mud springs, and powerful geysers.

Destination

Europe

Southern Iceland

The best way to experience the natural spectacle of the Northern Lights in Iceland is in absolute darkness. So don't plan this trip in summer. From about mid-September until the end of March/April, you can expect to see the famous lights in the evening and at night.

Upon arrival at Reykjavik's international airport, you will meet our tour guide and head directly to the Blue Lagoon.

The lava field surrounding the Blue Lagoon is called Illahraun (“lava of terror”). No wonder, after all, the fissured rock was once deemed entirely impassable.

Today, a 5,000 square meter bright blue lake awaits you, with a water temperature that ranges between 37° and 42°C, even in winter.

Enjoy a pampering program at the Blue Lagoon when you arrive: a silica mud mask, a drink of your choice, and algae mask. Lean back and relax.

After relaxing hours in the Blue Lagoon recovering from your journey, you will be transported back to the hotel by your driver.

Travel time from Reykjavik Airport - Blue Lagoon - Hotel Hella: approx. 4 hours 30 minutes

Overnight stay with breakfast in Hella, Iceland

Nowhere else on the earth does the gap between two continental plates reveal itself as clearly as here in the south of Iceland, where the giant earth plates drift apart by about 2 centimeters every year. But the gap has filled up again since its formation due to lava flows from frequent volcanic eruptions.

During your tour in the south of the island, you will visit the charming village of Vík í Mýrdal and two of the most impressive waterfalls. First, you will marvel at the Seljalandsfoss. You can even walk behind the waterfall. Afterward, you will continue to the impressive Skógarfoss before you set off for Dyrhólaey Rock. This 120-meter-high peninsula is home to countless bird species.

Next, you will hike over the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue. The different ice formations on the glacier and the crevasses with their fascinating views into the depths are unforgettable. The eruption site of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano (which caused a great stir in April 2010) is not far away, so you will also see the traces of the cold lava on the ice.

Today you will discover some of the most famous sights of Iceland. The Great Geyser, also known as the Stori Geyser, seldom erupts, but it is still considered the world's highest geyser. In the year 2000, the water shot up to 122 meters into the sky. Currently, however, the Strokkur is a giant geyser of Iceland. It erupts every five to ten minutes, and its water column reaches a height of 25 to 35 meters. As both geysers are located in the high-temperature area of Haukadalur, they can be visited simultaneously.

Only a short drive away is Gullfoss - the "Golden Waterfall" It is one of the most beautiful and largest waterfalls in Iceland. You have the opportunity to admire this enchanting natural spectacle first hand and see the enormous volume of water plunge into the deep gorge.

After these exciting nature experiences, it’s time to enjoy yourself and relax: you will drive to Laugarvatn, a combination of several thermal baths. Enjoy a relaxing and healing steam bath in the springs of Fontana in this unique landscape.

Overnight stay with breakfast in Reykjavík, Iceland

Today is a day for exploring. Reykjavik and its surroundings will delight you, as they have something to offer everyone. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere of the city, feel the unbridled energy in the ground beneath your feet, or enjoy the tranquillity of nature outside the city gates, the city promises a lasting visit.

Today’s main attraction? You will enjoy culinary delights with a lobster dinner at the Fjöruborðið restaurant. You should not miss freshly caught lobsters from the waters of Iceland. Would you prefer to eat in the city center of Reykjavik? No problem. Just let us know, and we will find a suitable alternative for you.

Fortified by a lovely dinner, you will head to the remote areas off Reykjavik, where absolute darkness prevails away from the artificial light sources. Here you can experience an extraordinary spectacle in the sky - the Northern Lights. Bask in their awe-inspiring glow.
