The landscape appears to stretch endlessly in every direction.
The dunes of the Namib are waiting for you. Feel the pulse of the oldest desert in the world with this sandboarding experience.
Being at least 55 million years old, the Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world. As such, it is home to some of the biggest dunes on the planet.
Now you can experience this natural marvel and get your adrenaline fix at the same time.
Speed down the ancient dunes on a traditional Swakopmund sandboard. Over the years, it has evolved from a simple piece of cardboard to specialized snowboards designed for maximum speed on sandy surfaces.
There are 2 styles of sandboarding:
Lying down on a specially polished board to slide headfirst down a dune, which can reach speeds of 80 km/h (or almost 50 mph);
Standing up with standard snowboarding equipment, for those who prefer to have more control.
Please note that some snowboarding or surfing experience is advisable, but not necessary.
