Musandam Mountains & Fjords

Welcome to Oman! After your early morning landing in Khasab, you will collect your luggage and be greeted by your English-speaking guide in the arrival hall of the airport. Together, you will go to your transfer vehicle and drive to Khasab. Explore Khasab, the port city on the Musandam Peninsula in northern Oman, during a city tour. In the afternoon, set off on a panoramic drive into the lonely hinterland of northern Oman. Your first destination of the trip is Jebel Harim, also called “Women's Mountain”, which is the highest mountain in the Musandam region at 2087 metres. Take a deep breath and take in the spectacular view. Pull out your camera and capture the impressive scenery for eternity.

The Musandam peninsula is located in the north of the Gulf state of Oman and is also called the "Norway of the Middle East" because of its impressive fjord landscape - a real hidden gem. Far away from the hustle and bustle of life, spectacular rock faces of the Hajar Mountains, traditional Bedouin villages and deep valleys characterise the picturesque landscape here.

You will make a short stop in the small Bedouin village of Say, which is about 1100 metres above sea level. Get out and enjoy the beauty of Musandam. Afterwards, head to Khor Najd, the most famous fjord, from where you can experience a dreamlike view of the Indian Ocean.

Still haven't had enough of Musandam's enchanting natural beauty? Then quickly head to Birkat Khalidiya Park, a green space with lush acacia trees irrigated by Musandam's largest falaj system, a traditional way of using natural water resources. Walk past the magnificent trees and enjoy the fascinating landscape of the Gulf state of Oman.

2 nights at the Atana Musandam **** in a Superior King Room, Khasab, Oman

After you have strengthened yourself at the rich breakfast buffet, a traditional Omani experience awaits you: you will board a dhow, an Omani wooden sailing ship, and sail along Musandam's longest and most impressive fjord, the Khor Sham. Make yourself comfortable on the dhow and sit back. Don't forget to pack your camera, because this boat trip is full of surprises.

Feel like the sailor Sinbad on his adventures and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere on board. You will pass the winding entrance to the fjord, which resembles a gorge, and sail past small fishing villages. With a little luck, you may also see playful dolphins here. Put on your swimsuit and dive into the refreshing water. You are also welcome to swim a round with the cute sea creatures.

The dhow stops near the small Telegraph Island and offers opportunities for swimming and snorkelling. Swim together with colourful fish in the crystal clear water and discover the colourful seabed. Back on deck you can relax with cool refreshing drinks, coffee, and tea. Enjoy the fantastic view of the impressive mountains, which rise up to 600 metres at this point - simply spectacular.

At lunchtime, you will be served an Arabic-continental buffet. Enjoy it while your dhow takes you to Seebi Island. Here you can relax and swim in the crystal clear water.

At around 4 pm, you will arrive at the port of Khasab and be transferred back to your hotel. (B/M)

After two wonderful days in the Musandam region, your eventful stay in Oman comes to an end. After breakfast at the hotel, you will pack your bags and your driver will take you to Khasab airport. With all kinds of new impressions and great photos in your luggage, you will start your return flight.

The modern Atana Musandam is situated in a tranquil harbourfront location, just a few kilometres from Khasab Airport. Opened in 2014, the Atana Musandam offers 105 stylishly furnished rooms and suites with all amenities and magnificent views over the sea or the surrounding mountains.
