M/S Skorpios is an experienced expedition ship and the first and so far only ship to sail large parts of the Kaweskar sea route.
Today you will be welcomed at Skorpios Terminal and check in on board the ship around 16:00. The crew is already ready for you with a refreshing welcome cocktail. Your journey into the icy adventure begins in Puerto Natales between 17:00 and 18:00.
On board you will be served a delicious welcome dinner. The Kaweskar Route you will travel was named after canoeists who used to cruise these fjords, and circumnavigates about 380 miles and a high number of glaciers - because there are as many glaciers as here nowhere else. There are 15 in total.
Over the next four days, the wild solitude of Patagonia, gorgeous ocean lagoons and colossal glaciers await you on an 800 km cruise. Your expedition ship is not only equipped with the most modern navigation technology and equipment, especially the excellent cuisine on board must be mentioned here. Tasty delicacies and epicurean delights will spoil you on this voyage. Optional: passengers who have booked an extra night are offered a free excursion on Tuesday before the cruise begins. You will visit Torres del Paine National Park and Milodon Cave. (Includes dinner, buffet breakfast and transportation).
4 nights full board accommodation on the Skorpios III in an inside cabin on the Atenas Deck, Chile.
Early in the morning at 8:00 you will reach the glacier Amalia. Its blue towers stretch a whole 100 meters into the air. From the ship you have a unique view of the ice colossus. Already the trip to the glacier gives you an idea of what to expect - you willcross the Kirke Narrowness, Morla Vicuña, Union, Collinwood and Sarmiento channels. See up close the spectacular shapes and colors of the glacier. At 9:15 am continue towards El Brujo Glacier, which you will reach around 11:00 am. The captain will try to get you as close to the glacier as possible. If you are lucky, you will be able to observe ice blocks breaking out of the glacier. Depending on weather conditions, arrival times may also be delayed. At 12:30 we will leave for the Calvo Fjords. The excursion will be made in special motor boats. Calvo Fjord is a large amphitheater formed by glaciers. The waters are still and appear as if the ice is floating on the water. Ice floes drift on the water surface. You simply have to experience the image of the sky, which appears on the water, live for yourself.
From the water, enjoy the natural spectacle of the surrounding glaciers, such as Fernando Captain Constantino and Alipio, among others. Towards afternoon/early evening you will sail further towards the fjord Las Montañas.
After breakfast, you will set out for a visit to Las Montañas Fjord. Five small glaciers hang here from the Sarmiento Mountains into the picturesque fjords.
At 10:00 am you will visit the Bernal Glacier, where an easy hike can be taken to the base of the glacier. Multicolored icebergs float around in the fjord of Herman Glacier. Marvel at the imposing ice masses and be enchanted by the mystical atmosphere.
Afterwards you will see the wonderful color contrasts of the Alsina and Paredes glaciers. Let the magnificent ice landscape work its magic on you. If you listen carefully, you can also hear the cracking, or calving, of the glacier and see ice blocks sliding into the water. At 17:00 we continue the cruise and cross the Kirke strait. At 21:00 sharp the bells will be rung for the farewell party with dancing and around 22:30 you will arrive at the port of Skorpios Terminal in Puerto Natales.
The last day has dawned. After a last hearty breakfast.
Check out between 08:00 and 09:30 and then you will be transferred back to Punta Arenas to the airport. From there you can continue your further individual Chile round trip. If you need assistance with this, our knowledgeable Chile specialists will help you.
