Description

Award-winning, eco-friendly Rose Gums is an oasis in the Atherton Tablelands. It’s the haven every nature lover dreams of. Here, you'll stay in tree huts built on stilts high above the eucalypthus trees, in the middle of a private rainforest. You can find over 160 species of birds, including the famous Australian Kookaburra and the rare Cassowary bird (found only in Australia). In the small rocky bays of the rainforest, you can discover cute platypuses, kangaroos or turtles.

About your surroundings

The Rose Gums is the perfect base from which to explore the Atherton Tablelands. Waterfalls, rainforests and volcanic crater lakes fill the landscapes. In addition, the fauna here abounds. You will see the colorful lorises quite often, for example. The morning feeding of the birds and kangaroos is a sight to behold. And who knows, you might even spot a cute koala or two in the eucalyptus trees. Another species to watch out for here is the cute platypus. And both kangaroos and tree-kangaroos are often sighted here - a kangaroo encounter should be part of every trip to Australia, of course.

To get to Cairns and the northern Great Barrier Reef from here, you need an approx. 80-minute-long drive.

The Hotel

A total of 9 self-catering tree huts are located here in the middle of the beautiful North Queensland rainforest. As mentioned, the Rose Gums is a self-catering accommodation. For your first breakfast, however your hosts Petra and Jon Nott will prepare you a delicious meal with bread, eggs, butter, bacon, cereals, cornflakes, fresh fruits, and tea or coffee. In the evening, you can prepare a delicious BBQ yourself. The restaurant serves fresh dinners every day.

Rooms

The 9 luxurious wooden bungalows are built on stilts and offer plenty of privacy. Each cabin is equipped with its own microwave, refrigerator and stove. A comfortable king-size bed, washer and dryer are also included. The bathtub and a shower stall are also part of the bungalows. Relax in your hot tub or enjoy stunning views of the Atherton Tablelands and the rainforest from your veranda.
