The modern hotel is a lovingly restored building in the center of Panama City’s old town. Its design pays close attention to detail and is probably the most stylish hotel in Panama City because of its perfect blend of colonial style and modernity.
The hotel is in the historic district of Casco Antiguo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Casco is the country’s center for art, design, and cultural revival. Many new bars, restaurants and hotels have opened here.
Since the hotel opened in 1917, it has boasted a mixture of neoclassicism and art nouveau. Thanks to its location and style, it quickly became the meeting place for influential people from all over the world. At the time of its opening, it became Panama’s first luxury skyscraper — the tallest building in the country and only the second with an elevator — and was known for its blend of neoclassical and art nouveau details. It later lay abandoned for many years and now has been beautifully restored, in keeping with the motto: old-world elegance with modern furnishings. The elegant American Trade Hotel opened at the end of 2013 and is now the largest hotel in the historic Old Town with 50 rooms.
In five minutes, you can walk to the Plaza Herrera, San Francisco Church, and the Presidential Palace. Not far from the hotel is the most hyped restaurant in the city, Manolo Caracol, where you can indulge in culinary delights. The airport is approximately 25 kilometers from the hotel.
The hotel is reminiscent of New Orleans meets Havana in a 1930s film. One of the highlights is the hotel’s jazz bar. Enjoy fabulous music with a glass of wine or an exotic cocktail. In the restaurant, you can indulge in culinary delights and soak in views of the beautiful garden.
The rooms boast light and dark brown wooden elements and include air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, an Apple docking station, a bathroom, a cozy bathrobe, a rain shower. Some rooms have a private terrace where you can relish views of the capital’s exciting city life.
