Destination

Africa

  1. Uganda

In the middle of Lake Victoria, about 23 kilometres south of Entebbe, lies the 40-hectare chimpanzee paradise. Ngamba Island is a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees found by the Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservation Trust in 1998.

The sanctuary houses 49 chimpanzees rescued from the illegal trade market or can no longer be released in Uganda’s forests for various reasons. The animals’ rights activists look after their protégés with lots of love and affection.

During the 60-minute boat ride to Ngamba Island, enjoy the views of picturesque fishing villages. When you arrive, the well-trained nursing staff will provide you with information about the chimpanzees’ lives and their endangered existence. And the highlight of your experience will be the chimpanzees’ feedings. Get up-close encounters with your favourite animal!
