Description

Imagine three little, deserted islands lined with white beaches and coconut palms. In the background, the pleasant sound of waves. The Gili Islands are the epitome of paradise and have become more popular than any other destination in Indonesia. Each of the three islands has its own unique charm. Which one is your favourite: Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, or Gili Air?

The 3 Gili Islands

With the sun just rising, you will start your tour into the beautiful landscapes off the northwest coast of the Indonesian island of Lombok. At the beginning, you will visit the famous Pusuk Temple. In the midst of the mountain landscape, this place of worship is inhabited by hundreds of monkeys that roam freely in the jungle and curiously beg for food from the tourists. But the monkeys are not the only thing worth seeing here: Have you noticed the breathtaking view from up here? Enjoy the incomparable view of the sea and the mountain landscape in front of you for a moment.

Afterwards, drive to the port of Teluk Kode, where you will board a local motorised boat that will take you to the Gili Islands. Can you already see the first island on the horizon? Gili Trawangan is also known as Gili T and is the most cosmopolitan of the islands. Here you will find a colourful bar and vibrant party scene and numerous restaurants, as well as chic, tropical hotels. Here you can enjoy the flair in cafés, at markets, on the beach, or simply under the palm trees.

Gili Air, on the other hand, takes you on a journey into culture, as this island reflects the strongest local charm. Here you can take it easy and go snorkelling, lie on the beach and enjoy the view in beach bars, as you will experience less hustle and bustle here than on the largest island, Gili Trawangan.

You will experience absolute peace and seclusion on Gili Meno, the small island that is a refuge in the sea. Discover the underwater paradise, which is especially known for the variety of turtles. But also the colourful corals and countless fish make this island so popular with snorkellers.

In the afternoon, the boat trip back to Lombok awaits you. After all the impressions you have experienced, which of the islands do you like best?
