Cape Town - Stellenbosch - Oudtshoorn - Gondwana Game Reserve - Plettenberg Bay - Kariega Game Reserve - Gqeberha

For a trip from Cape Town along the Garden Route, the best months are from September to April. September is spring and April is late summer. From January to March, it is particularly warm and rain showers are rare.

Please note that summer vacations in South Africa take place from mid-December to mid-January. Coastal resorts are particularly popular and become fully booked in advance.

Today begins your long-awaited family vacation through South Africa. After landing at Cape Town International Airport with your children, you will be greeted by a representative of our partner agency in the arrivals hall. Here you will receive your travel documents and subsequently pick up your rental car with the assistance of your contact person. If you have any questions about the itinerary, your contact person will be happy to assist you.

Now you are finally on your way: You will drive to your first accommodation, the Cape Riviera Guesthouse. Situated in the picturesque suburb of Oranjezicht, you will have plenty of time over the next two days to get to know all the sights in and around Cape Town.

Take the time to relax after your arrival. Relax on the inviting sun terrace while your youngest splash around in the inviting outdoor pool. The magnificent mountain views are just a taste of the Mother City attractions that await you over the next few days.

You will drive south along the spectacular Chapman's Peak coastal road until you reach the Cape Point Nature Reserve at the tip of the peninsula. Now you are at the Cape of Good Hope, the most southwestern point of Africa.

Wondering about what you need to see during your stay in Cape Town?

We absolutely recommend a visit to the majestic Table Mountain, the landmark of the city. Via a modern cable car, you will climb the mountain and reach the huge plateau. The view from above of the city below is simply stunning: The city center with Signal Hill and the districts on the Atlantic coast are at your feet. You can also glimpse Robben Island at some distance.

Of course you should not miss to marvel at the other numerous sights as well. The Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden is considered one of the most beautiful gardens in the world and the Two Ocean Aquarium at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront will fascinate marine explorers big and small with a huge variety of animals and plants. About 300 species of fish as well as numerous reptiles, penguins and also sharks will completely thrill you and your children.

After three eventful days in Cape Town, today you will drive through the Winelands to Stellenbosch. Situated in a beautiful, fertile valley, Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa, boasting historic buildings built in the Cape Dutch and Victorian styles.

Although the historic city center is very small, it is well worth a visit. On Dorp Street, you will find some of the oldest houses in the country, as well as the over 100-year-old grocer, Oom Samie se Winkel. The University of Stellenbosch is one of the most prestigious in the country, with about 17,000 students from all over the world.

Look forward to great photo opportunities as far as the eye can see.

In the course of the day, you will reach Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. Marvel at the large African birds on the numerous ostrich farms, where you will visit the breeding and rearing facilities.

Your dream of an unforgettable family safari finally will come true today. After stowing all your bags in your car, you will drive to the family-friendly Gondwana Game Reserve, located in a malaria-free, private game reserve on the picturesque Garden Route. Situated amidst lush nature, one highlight follows the next here. While other family-friendly safari lodges have a minimum age requirement of 6, much younger children are welcomed here. Please keep in mind, however, that it is not permitted to take children of any age on a game drive in an open off-road vehicle. An age of approx. 2.5 years is recommended.

At the Gondwana Game Reserve, you will enjoy adventurous game drives and, with a bit of luck, you will be able to get up close and personal with the legendary Big Five, which includes lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalo and leopards. You should also keep an eye out for antelope, zebra and giraffe. Listen to the sounds of nature and follow the tracks in the grass. Can you hear the rustling in the trees? Pure adrenaline is guaranteed here for the entire family. Along the way, your experienced ranger will tell you a lot about the animals and life in the bush. If you wish, you can also go on the game drive with another family, so that your children can make new friends during your vacation.

When your children are asleep, you can end the day with a cool drink on your private veranda and enjoy the clear starry night sky in peace with your partner.

Accompanied by an experienced ranger, you will go out into nature. In an open jeep, you will cross scenic valleys, open grass plains and the African bush. With a bit of luck, you can observe hyenas, giraffes, zebras, rhinos and buffalos in the wild. Do you see the little baby elephants? Cheers erupt in the back seat. Listen to the sounds of nature while your guide informs you about the numerous animals and the surrounding nature. You can try various water sports here, such as sailing and windsurfing, or you can spend a relaxing day with your children on a seemingly endless white sand beach. Among the most famous beaches in the city are Hobie Beach, Kings Beach, Humewood and Wells Beach. The latter two have even been awarded the Blue Flag for their cleanliness and water quality.
