Destination

Europe

  1. Portugal
  2. Madeira

Around 09:00, an experienced hiking guide will pick you up for a full-day hike to Pico de Arieiro and Pico Ruivo.

Pico do Arieiro is the third highest mountain in Madeira, with a height of 1818 meters and the first destination of your trip. Once you arrive at the top, the 360-degree view is stunning. A breathtaking lookout toward the nuns’ valley, Curral das Freiras, expands before your eyes.

Afterward, head up Pico Ruivo’s summit ascent. Madeira’s highest mountain appears in full sunshine even on a cloudy day — the climb makes these sights worth it. In good weather, you can even see the neighboring island of Porto Santo, about 50 kilometers away. There’s also a large wooden surface on the summit, which offers plenty of space for picnicking and relaxing.
