Destination

Indian Ocean / Africa

Nairobi - Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha - Amboseli National Park

The best time to travel to Kenya is the dry season: in the months of December to February, temperatures are pleasantly warm and there is hardly any rain. Due to the lack of water, animals rarely move away from the remaining waterholes; animal sightings are easier. The months from August to October are also popular. At this time, the natural spectacle of the world-famous animal migration in the Masai Mara takes place.

Best time to visit Seychelles

Due to the proximity to the equator, the temperatures in the Seychelles are constant and hardly subject to fluctuations. The best time to travel is from May to mid-September/October, when the southeast trade winds in the west provide good weather and hardly any rainfall. The travel season is also perfect for all sailors, windsurfers and hikers, as the winds provide a fresh breeze and steady surf. The northwest monsoon brings warm weather and slower wind speeds from November to March, making it a great time for snorkelers and divers: Visibility underwater can then be up to 30 meters. Rainfall is concentrated between the months of December and February, consisting of mostly short yet strong rain showers. During this time, humidity is at 80%.

Caribou Kenya! Today your journey in East Africa begins. At the airport you will get a warm welcome from your personal guide. On the drive from the airport to your accommodation you can observe the vibrant life of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. At the hotel, recover from the flight and get in the mood for the upcoming safari adventure.

1 night at Southern Sun Mayfair Hotel**** with breakfast in a standard room, Nairobi, Kenya.

After a hearty breakfast, we will drive through the Great Rift Valley to the Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake is home to hundreds of thousands of flamingos, the endangered Rothschild's giraffe, several bird species and populations of black and white rhinos.

You will arrive at your accommodation for a late lunch before going on a game drive. The Lake Nakuru National Park was established to protect huge flocks of flamingos. On the shore you will see waterbucks, bohor reedbucks and zebras grazing. In the lake itself, in addition to hippos, you can see the clawless otter splashing around. The area is now home to the white rhino and the black rhino. However, this was not always the case. In 1987, only two black rhinos remained due to the devastating effects of poaching. By establishing a rhino sanctuary within the park and crossing with a breeding herd from Laikipia, a region in Kenya, the Kenya Wildlife Service (K.W.S.) has succeeded in significantly increasing rhino population in the park again.

Due to the vastness of the area, game viewing in the park is relatively easy: buffalo, leopards, lions, Rothschild's giraffes or colobus monkeys can all be observed here. In the bushveld, eland antelopes, steenboks, impalas, Chandler's reedbucks and dik-diks can be seen, while rock hyraxes and Klipspringers (“rock jumpers” in Afrikaans) can be found on the cliffs and escarpments. Another highlight of the park is the Euphorbia forest (Euphorbia is an almond-leaved spurge plant) - the largest in Africa.

Nairobi - Lake Nakuru National Park: 165 km / approx. 4-5 hours

1 night at Flamingo Hill Camp*** with full board in standard room, Lake Nakuru, Kenya

Today you will drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, which means “dotted plain” in the Maa language. Where does this name come from? The landscape consists of rolling savannahs with shrubs and bush thickets, making it look dotted. The reserve is home to the largest concentration of mammals and is widely recognized as Africa's premier wildlife sanctuary. The park is the northern continuation of the vast Serengeti - Mara ecosystem in Tanzania and famous for its annual animal migration.

Arrive at your lodge around noon and then go on a game drive through the legendary landscapes of the Masai Mara. Finally, enjoy the typical African scenery with a cool cocktail. End the evening at the campfire in the camp and listen to the sounds of nature. Animals such as hyenas, hippos and lions can be heard at twilight.

After a late breakfast you will continue to Lake Naivasha. You will reach your accommodation around noon. Afterwards you will go on a boat trip that will allow you to get very close to hippos. You will dock at Crescent Island. Since the filming of "Out of Africa", giraffes, zebras, antelopes and waterbucks can be found on the island, which you can observe on foot during a safari - a nice alternative to the game drives in the jeep.

Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha: 260 km / approx. 6-8 hours

1 night with full board in standard room at Naivasha Sopa Lodge***, Lake Naivasha, Kenya

110a930c-e84f-11e8-9861-068ed014655a

After an early breakfast, we head towards Amboseli National Park. The park is known for its landscape dominated by Kilimanjaro. If you’re lucky, you can see a cloudless “Roof of Africa” (as Kilimanjaro is also known). The drive there can be compared to a safari, as you will encounter many animals along the way. After dinner, you can end the day with a cool drink around the campfire. Enjoy the starry sky: There are no city lights or other light sources to disturb the view here.

Lake Naivasha - Amboseli National Park: 380 km / 7-9 hours

2 nights with full board at Kibo Safari Camp*** in standard room, Amboseli National Park, Kenya

04f27832-e84f-11e8-bb9c-068ed014655a

Spend another day in the park observing the animals - including zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, impalas, caracals and servals, lions, leopards, cheetahs and buffalo. You can also discover some of the more than 400 bird species, including the bee-eaters, kingfishers, African fish eagles, martial eagle and pygmy falcons. However, visitors are particularly fascinated by the huge herds of elephants that roam Amboseli Park. The bull elephants have some of the largest tusks in all of Kenya.

This morning you will drive back to the capital of Kenya. Nairobi is the largest metropolis in East Africa. Look out of the car window as a whole different world passes you by. The contrast to the green safari world could hardly be greater. The streets are chaotic with traffic, but for the Kenyans this is all "hakuna matata", or "no problem". Merchants and their little stalls line up next to ultra-modern houses. The drive takes you past parliament buildings, ministries, and conference centers and some shopping streets. Above Uhuru Park you can get views of Nairobi's skyline. Once at your hotel, get comfortable and look forward to tomorrow's flight towards the Seychelles.

1 night at Southern Sun Mayfair Hotel**** with breakfast in a standard room, Nairobi, Kenya.

Today brings you to the Indian Ocean. After breakfast, you will transfer to Nairobi airport and then fly to Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles.

White dream beaches, turquoise sea and lush green vegetation - pure relaxation! In addition to large palm trees, you will also find the largest coconut in the world - the Coco de Mer.

The national park around the highest mountain of the island, the Morne Seychelles, is the green lung of the country. From the mountain you have a unique view over Mahé. Other highlights of the island are of course the countless beaches. The Seychelles are an absolute dream place and the perfect place to finish your adventurous vacation in Kenya. Process everything that you have seen and lived over the past few days and recharge in a relaxing environment.
