Giraffes, cheetahs, and hyenas in Abu Dhabi? The Asian luxury hotel chain Anantara, famous for its superb accommodations, will take you into another world. This luxurious, African-looking hotel will take you into a world as exciting, varied, and beautiful as Africa itself.
The journey to Sir Bani Yas Island is an adventure in itself! From Abu Dhabi, you will drive two hours to your ferry terminal and then take a 30-minute ferry into another world. After just a few meters, baby antelopes and their mothers cross the street, and just another few meters away are male peacocks presenting their colorful plumage.
Sheikh Zayed of Abu Dhabi put the island under nature protection in 1970 to protect the animals and give endangered species a new home. It is said that the first animals came to the island as gifts from wealthy visitors to Sheikh. Gradually more and more came, and so the idea of a nature reserve was born. Over the years, a unique ecosystem emerged and became home to countless birds, reptiles, mammals, and plants.
Abu Dhabi Airport is about 250 kilometers away.
Since the island’s focus is on natural experience, the Anantara Desert Resort & Spa perfectly combines into its landscape. The entire facility is open, so animals, such as antelopes and peacocks run freely and unafraid throughout the premise. The hotel’s style and design mix African and Arabic elements, with parts of the building merging with the vegetation from the inside and outside. The large, tent-like entrance and stylishly furnished lobby convey a familiar and adventurous atmosphere. Of course, sustainability plays a major role — for example, there’s no plastic packaging allowed on-site.
The two sister hotels, Al Yamm and Al Sahel, are only 15 minutes away by jeep.
The 64 rooms, suites, and private villas combine African and Arabic-style elements, paired with five-star luxury resort amenities. The wood and warm color accents combined with the first-class care and friendliness from the staff convey a welcoming feeling during your stay: high-quality products and a little extra attention to detail rounds off the perfect visit.
Deluxe Room – 52 m², all rooms have a view of the garden or the sea (bookable for a surcharge) and a large terrace or balcony. Maximum 2 adults & 1 child (0-11 years old).
Anantara Suite – 80 m², the spacious suites have the same equipment as the Deluxe Rooms but offer extra space thanks to the separate living room. Maximum 2 adults & 1 child (0-11 years old).
Anantara Pool Villa – 120 m², perfect for families! The villas are just a few steps from the beach, away from the main building, and offer a private pool. Maximum 2 adults & 2 children (0-11 years old).
The three restaurants serve international, Arabic, and slightly African-inspired cuisine. How about a fresh lobster dinner right on the beach? Dining by Design by Anantara makes it possible, and the hotel staff will fulfill your every wish.
The hotel offers a range of guided excursions by jeep, mountain bike, foot, or horseback. The island’s experienced rangers and guides can answer almost any question and are there for you around the clock.
Guests have access to modern fitness equipment in the gym. The water sports center also offers a wide range of activities such as kayaking or stand-up paddling.
While the little ones are looked after at the Kids Club, you can book a massage or spa treatment at the Anantara Spa.
