Description

The Great Blue Hole is not only one of the top ten diving spots in the world, but it is also an unforgettable experience from above. You can even see the giant marine sinkhole off the Belize coast from space satellite images! For this experience, you won’t be going to space, though — instead, you’ll hop into a small plane and embark on a breathtaking adventure over the natural phenomenon. From a bird’s eye view, soak in the different shades of blue and a natural wonder like you’ve never seen before.

Destination

Central America

  1. Belize

Your one-hour adventure begins at Belize Municipal Airport, where you’ll board a small plane and take off for your experience over the Great Blue Hole. As you approach the natural phenomenon, soak in the endless views of the Belize Barrier Reef — a stunning combination of colors and shapes you rarely see in your everyday life. Fly east over Turneffe Reef to Half Moon Caye, where you can see thousands of small, uninhabited islands and shipwrecks from the air. Finally, the highlight of your experience: the Great Blue Hole in the Lighthouse Reef. The natural wonder is circular and deep blue in the middle of the shimmering turquoise sea. Your pilot will circle over it several times, making sure you have many opportunities to capture some photos.

The Great Blue Hole is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with other parts of the reef. It is over 300 meters wide and 125 meters deep.
