The Baltic Sea Cycle Path will take you on from Lübeck to Stralsund and through diverse landscapes and exciting stopovers. Roam through the pristine coastlines, uncover unique lagoon landscapes, cycle along fine sandy beaches, discover Hanseatic cities such as Wismar, and visit sleepy fishing villages.
If you like to ride comfortably, then this tour is perfect for you. The 300-kilometer bike path is mostly flat, with only slight hilly terrains in some areas. If you want to take a more extended break, you can shorten the individual bike stages by train and boat.
The best time to visit the Baltic Sea is between the summer months June to August. During these months, the temperatures climb to an average of 18 to 22°C, and the water temperatures are around 17°C. And in the spring and summer, there aren’t many rainy days.

After breakfast, it’s time to hop onto your bike and head for Stralsund.
Your first stop is in Travemünde at the oldest lighthouse in Germany. Continue along the Baltic Sea coast and through the Brooker Forest Nature Reserve until you reach Boltenhagen, the second oldest seaside resort in Mecklenburg. From the cliff, relish fantastic views of the entire bay and quaint town. Boltenhagen is your final destination for today. The traditional former fishing village is now a seaside resort with an unmistakable maritime flair and typical seaside architecture. On the 300-meter long pier, the warm summer air will blow through your hair as stunning views surround you.

Today’s journey along the Baltic Sea will take you to the Hanseatic city of Wismar, which is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Our tip: Stroll through the old town and visit the market square with its magnificent buildings and numerous cafés and restaurants.
While you’re in Wismar, we highly recommend a trip to the island of Poel, which attracts visitors with beaches that stretch along the coast and refreshing waters that invite you in for a dip.

After breakfast, you’ll hop back onto your bike and cycle toward Bad Doberan. You will mainly cruise down quiet country roads, cycle paths, and field paths. The route doesn’t always run along the coast but often makes detours into the diverse hinterland.
When you arrive in Bad Doberan, you can stroll through the park called Kamp or take the Molli narrow-gauge steam-powered train to the beach.

Today is a new day, which means another exciting adventure! As you head east, you’ll visit Nienhagen, also known as the ghost forest. The diverse forest is full of strangely twisted trees that have been shaped from years of exposure to salty, moist air and stormy gusts of wind.
Your cycle continues via the city of Warenmünde to Wustrow on the Fischland-Darß peninsula — the former border between Mecklenburg and Pomerania. The peninsula mostly consists of the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park, a unique natural landscape where deer and cranes find an ideal habitat.

It’s time to look forward to the final destination of your trip. From afar, you’ll already see the famous three towers of Stralsund, a German Hanseatic city. As you explore the old town, you’ll notice the importance of its trading history within the architecture and surrounding landscapes. Spend the last day and evening of your trip discovering the old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your trip includes admission to the Ozeaneum, a natural history museum focusing on the sea.
