Bill Bensley, a famous American architect, known for his extraordinary design, built The Slate. When planning the sprawling luxury resort, the island’s heritage as a tin mining site served as inspiration. This influence reflects in the raw building materials with tones of rust and graphite that harmonize perfectly with the warm tones of traditional Thai architecture.

The Slate has 177 rooms and suites, eight restaurants and bars, two tennis courts, a private beach, a diving center, a culinary school, a spa, and an art gallery. The resort offers three beautiful swimming areas: a non-smoking family pool with a children’s section, an adult-friendly pool bar, and the adults-only infinity pool.

The 177 suites and villas boast an extraordinary design that reflects the island's industrial heritage. The concrete floors, black steel furniture, bright color palette, and sophisticated lighting harmonize together for its unique atmosphere. The Black Ginger offers a more intimate atmosphere in two traditional wooden salas for an evening with Thai gourmet cuisine. For Asian cuisine in an industrial setting, head to Rivet and Rebar.

Coqoon Spa has eight treatment rooms that have a maximum of two guests per room. The name is no coincidence: the flying treatment rooms suspend in giant cocoons and perfectly integrate with the tropical rainforest backdrop.
