Description

Come with us on a journey into the jewel of Sarawak’s growing network of national parks. The Gunung Mulu National Park is a spectacular natural wonder with three mighty mountains, Mulu, Api, and Gunung Benarat, that dominate the stunning views. A primary rainforest stretches over 544 square kilometers and is crossed by raging rivers and clear jungle streams. The greatest attractions of Mulu National Park, however, lie deep below the surface: one of the largest limestone cave systems in the world hides beneath the forested slopes of these mountains. For three days, you’ll visit the most famous caves of Mulu together with a guide and live in the middle of the jungle at the Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa.

Mulu

A trip to the Mulu National Park is generally great year round. The state of Sarawak has a rainy season all year round; however, there are heavy rains, especially in December and January.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will first head to your hotel for the next two nights. Before you meet your guide in the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity (depending on your arrival time) to take advantage of a variety of free offers in the national park. These include a visit to the Tree Top Tower with a view over the national park's top, a walk along the promenade to the Paku Waterfall, or a 1.5-kilometer walk on the Nature Heritage Trail.

In the afternoon, you will go on a three-kilometer hike that takes you across a wooden walkway through the jungle to the Lang Höhle - the most extended cave passage in the world. After exploring the cave, continue to Deer Cave, home to around two to three million bats. You will experience a breathtaking natural spectacle at dusk when thousands of bats fly out of the cave perfectly formed in different shapes to search for insects in the rainforest. The way back to the park headquarters will be just as exciting:

Experience a night hike through the jungle to the headquarters of the park. From glowing mushrooms to flashing fireflies, the jungle is alive even at night.

Back at the hotel, a refreshing dinner awaits you.

Travel time from Mulu airport to the hotel: 5 km / 10 minutes

2 nights at the Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa**** in a Deluxe Room with full board, Mulu, Sarawak, Malaysia

Wake up to the sound of the jungle and a delicious breakfast. Then once you’re replenished, you will take a 15-minute boat ride on the Melanau River to two more limestone caves that you have to see when visiting Mulu: the Wind Cave and the Clearwater Cave. These are part of the Sarawak Chamber — the largest contiguous cave system in the world.

Today you will have lunch in the form of a picnic near Clearwater Cave. If you feel like it, take a dip in the cave’s spring, then hop on a longtail boat back to the resort in the afternoon. The rest of the day is up to you! We recommend a walk on the Canopy Walkway or one of the hikes through the park.

In the evening, a tasty dinner awaits you at your hotel.

Your time in the lush oasis of Mulu National Park is almost over. After breakfast, you will be brought back to the airport for your onward journey.
