Come with us on an adventure from 1001 Arabian Nights for the whole family!
The Sultan Qaboos Mosque is the largest mosque in the country and the landmark of the city of Muscat.
On a city tour, the mosque, which offers space for around 6,500 worshippers at the same time, must not be missed, of course.
The Al Muttrah district is built around the natural harbor basin.
Due to its favorable location on the outer edge of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is a major transshipment point for all kinds of trade goods.
Wadi Bani Khalid is one of the most famous oases, the cool water pools promise a welcome refreshment.
The Wahiba Desert adjoins the Hajar Mountains to the southeast and is a popular stop on any round trip.
On the way to the camp, you might encounter free-roaming camels from time to time.
The supposedly dreary desert landscape is the ideal place for activities like sandboarding.
The former capital, Nizwa, is still the cultural center of the country.
Around Nizwa there are some Heritage Villages, slowly decaying places such as Birkat Al Mouz.
The whole family will be enchanted by the fantastic views at Jebel Akhdar.
The green mountain lives up to its name, especially in spring.
Sahab Resort is located in the shadow of Jebel Akhdar and offers a wonderful view into the canyon.
The family-friendly hotel offers special family rooms with two separate bedrooms.
For those who want to relax a little from the strenuous activities in the mountains, the hotel pool is the ideal place.
The Hajar Mountains are a popular destination for activities such as trekking, hiking and climbing.
The private bay of Barr Al Jissah is home to three first-class hotels.
Shangri-La Hotel Al Waha is the first address for families and offers rooms with connecting doors.
With a little luck, hotel guests can watch small water turtles hatch.
Relaxation, beach and family fun is guaranteed at Shangri-La Hotel Al Waha.
An adventure from 1001 Arabian Nights in the home of Sindbad the Sailor for the entire family
Stay in family-friendly hotels and accommodations throughout the trip
Four-wheel drive rental car including all major insurances and fees
24-hour emergency service throughout your stay
Combination of cultural, natural and beach experiences in the diverse landscape of Oman.
On our family tour through Oman, you will experience the wonders of the East and the stories of Sindbad the Sailor up close! From the capital, Muscat, your path will take you across green oases in the middle of the Wahiba Desert, over the rocky canyons of the Hajar Mountains to the golden beaches of the Arabian Gulf. Go on a journey through Oman with your children and experience adventures like in the stories of 1001 Arabian Nights.
Upon arrival at the brand new terminal of the airport in Muscat, you will meet your private driver, who will take you to your hotel in the center of Muscat. The capital of the Sultanate is the economic and cultural center of the country. On your way to the hotel, you will already pass by some sights that cannot be missed on a city tour - the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, for example, which opened in 2001, is the largest mosque in the country and the city's landmark.
Duration of trip from the airport: approx. 20 minutes / 15 km
1 night at Hilton GardenInn Al Khuwair Hotel**** in a family room with breakfast, Muscat, Oman.
After breakfast, you will pick up the rental car that will be at your disposal for the next few days. Muscat has a lot to offer, especially for families. The Muttrah market is one of the most popular souqs in Muscat and always worth a visit. With a little luck, you will see the Sultan's huge yacht moored in the nearby harbor.
From Muscat, your journey leads you toward the desert. On the way you will have the opportunity to visit some of the most famous oases in the country, the so-called wadis. Wadi Bani Khalid is not only the most famous of these wadis, but also ideal for a swimming trip. The water in the large natural pools comes from the mountains and provides wonderful refreshment.
The last kilometers to your desert camp will be offroad. But don't worry, even for less experienced drivers the short, marked route is no problem. You will reach the camp, which bears the name of the endangered antelope species - the Arabian Oryx Camp, just in time to watch the sunset.
Duration of the trip from Muscat: approx. 4 hours / 250 km
1 night at the Arabian Oryx Camp** in family room with half board, Al Wasil, Oman
Getting up early will be worth it, because a sunrise in the desert is a light spectacle for young and old, especially from the top of a nearby dune. The way down is fastest with a sandboard, which you will find at the hotel. The desert is the ideal place for many sports that are only possible there. Jeep safaris and camel tours are also offered from the hotel.
On your way to the mountains, a stopover in Nizwa, one of the most culturally interesting cities in the country, is again worthwhile. Both the old fort and the famous market of Nizwa are popular places among locals and tourists alike. The spice market is a especially good place to haggle over souvenirs.
The drive to the peaks of the Hajar Mountains is a bit of an adventure in itself, as your hotel is located at a height of over 2,000 meters. From up there you will enjoy a magnificent view of the vast canyons and the surrounding mountains, which, depending on the season, may even be covered in snow from time to time.
The unique natural landscape can best be experienced on a hike or a mountain bike tour, and the sunset is all the more beautiful during an evening picnic around the campfire.
Trip from Al Wasil: approx. 3 hours / 200 km
1 night in Sahab Resort & Spa by Al Nahda**** in family room with half board, Jebel Akhdar, Oman
Today's destination is on the Arabian Gulf, in a small bay directly on the spotless white beach. However, the path there leads through the mountains (which are especially popular with climbers and hikers) first. On your way downhill, you will also pass one or the other mountain village, where its inhabitants live in so-called Heritage Villages according to the traditions of their ancestors until today.
One of the largest industries in the country is the export of dates and other fruits. A visit to one of the numerous plantations at the foot of the mountains is a worthwhile excursion on the way to Muscat.
Just a few kilometers outside the city of Muscat, the Shangri-La Resort is located in a private bay about a kilometer long. In the early evening you will arrive at your hotel, the family-run Hotel Al Waha, one of a total of three hotels in the extensive complex. You will drop off your rental car at the hotel, and your guest relations manager will be happy to assist you.
7 nights at Shangri-La Al Waha**** in a family room with breakfast, Barr Al Jissah, Oman
Trip from Sahab Resort: approx. 3 hours / 200 km
You can reach the city in about 15 minutes from the hotel, but it is also worth looking south. Many excursion destinations can be easily reached from the hotel in less than two hours. We will be happy to inform you about the large excursion program, but various activities are also offered at the hotel. The resort has its own turtle care project, because the bays on the coast of Oman are the nesting place of many turtle species. With a little luck, you can watch the little turtles hatch. A total of 15 restaurants and bars cater to every taste, with a particularly large selection of dishes suitable for children. The in-house water playground rounds off the great offer for families.
Depending on the departure time, your private driver will be ready at the hotel to take you to the airport. You will start your journey home feeling regenerated and with many memorable experiences of this wonderful country. Goodbye from Oman!
Trip to the airport: approx. 50 minutes / 50 km
