Framed by the volcanic beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains in the hinterland of the island, Saccharum offers a perfect location for exploring the island. Saccharum's design and decoration borrow from this theme, and design elements such as metal pipes create a harmonious and coherent overall look.

Also known as Flower Island, Madeira is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. The hiking trails around the famous levadas are only a few kilometers away. In addition, you can reach the old town and the center of Funchal in about 35 minutes by car.

Funchal airport is about 50 kilometers away.

Saccharum's reminds us of the old sugar factory that once stood on the very spot where the hotel is now located. This theme is also reflected in other areas of the hotel. Parts of the lobby even look like a museum, and information about the history of the region is available throughout the hotel.

Saccharum boasts a total of three restaurants and four bars. In all gastronomic facilities of the house, you will find great emphasis on authentic cuisine with Mediterranean influences, but given a modern and contemporary touch. You can treat your taste buds to specialties such as air-dried pata negra ham on green asparagus salad in the privacy of your own room or on the balcony, if desired. Menus are completely tailored to the wishes of the customer. In the restaurants, you have the choice between buffet and à la carte dishes.

Sports enthusiasts get their money's worth in and around the hotel. The unique flora and fauna and the mountainous landscape of the volcanic island are a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. The hotel offers guided trekking tours and excursions into the lush nature. These tours are especially recommended in spring, when the great variety of flowers is in full bloom, turning the entire island into a huge garden.

In the hotel itself, three outdoor pools provide cooling. The volcanic beach is easily accessible on foot via a road with little traffic. There you can enjoy numerous motorized and non-motorized water sports such as surfing, canoeing diving or snorkeling. The gym can be used free of charge, while the in-house squash court is available for a fee.

The heart of the hotel is the large and modern spa and wellness area. You can experiment various treatments and massages there, and access is available for a fee.
