After your transfer picks you up at your hotel in Funchal around 9 a.m., your half-day hike along the Levada dos Maroços begins. Also known as the Mimosa Valley, the impressive landscape is mainly characterized by agricultural influences.

Your experienced hiking guide will lead you through fragrant pine and eucalyptus forests and past terraced fields - always with a great view of the sea and the town of Machico.

During your hike, observe the daily hustle and bustle of the locals as they tend to the animals on their terraces and farms - a typical view of the traditional island. With a little luck and depending on the season, you can even buy fresh fruit along the way.
