Experience - Sri Lanka

Adam's Peak Sunrise Tour with overnight stay in Hatton

Highlights

  • A challenging hike to the summit of Adam's Peak

If the climb to Adam’s Peak is too difficult for you, we recommend our easier experience to Little Adam’s Peak.

  • Unique sunrise view over the valley

  • Includes a pre-overnight stay in Hatton

Description

Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka’s most famous mountain, extends over 2,200 meters and watches over the country’s central highlands. A hike to the summit is a little adventure, and you must be in good shape to climb it.

So you arrive at the summit in time for sunrise, we planned an overnight stay at the foot of the mountain. Together with your guide, you will start the ascent before sunrise. First, the path takes you past colorful stalls where you can check out all of the traditional goods. Gradually the trail becomes steeper and finally turns into steps.

For the next three hours, climb the 5,200 steps. We promise the strenuous hike is worth it! At the top, your eyes will feast on a unique natural spectacle: enjoy the golden sunrays bathe the landscape in, and observe the summit casts its shadow on the surrounding area.

Notes

  • A hike to Adam's Peak is only recommended between December and May. In the remaining months during the rainy season, the weather is too dangerous for a safe ascent.

  • The ascent takes about two to three hours each way and should only be done if you are in good physical condition.

  • Since the weather in the mountains can change even in the dry season, and it is still very fresh in the morning, we recommend several layers of clothing with a rain jacket or a wind stopper as the top layer.

  • We also recommend sturdy shoes and a camera for unique photos on the way and from the summit.
