The best time to visit Cape Town is the South African spring, from September to November, and the fall, between April and May. Temperatures are pleasantly warm and rainfall is low. The summer months from December to February are also a popular time to travel. Since many accommodations become fully booked fast because of the South African summer vacations, we recommend booking your trip well in advance.
Today you will arrive at the airport in Cape Town and meet our local colleague. They will assist you with the rental car pick-up, after which you will head straight to your accommodation in Cape Town.
Over the course of the following days, you will have enough time to get to know the highlights in and around Cape Town! Mzansi fo sho! is a common phrase in South Africa. It means "South Africa, alright!", expressing the pride of South Africans in their country. We recommend a city tour today to get your bearings in the metropolis.
6 nights in Cape Paradise Lodge**** with breakfast in Double Room, Cape Town, South Africa
PREMIUM option: 6 nights at Welgelegen Boutique Hotel**** with breakfast in Superior Room, Cape Town, South Africa
Today we suggest taking a cable car detour to the famous Table Mountain (optional). Together with Signal Hill and Lions Head, Table Mountain prevails in the cityscape and gives the skyline an unmistakable look. But it’s not just abou the fantastic view. Nature enthusiasts should explore the biodiversity and landscape of the mountain. Ibex, baboons or porcupines cavort here and, with a bit of luck, you can see several animal species at once. If you want to get active, you can also hike up. About 300 hiking trails lead up to this Cape Town landmark. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the vibrant metropolis from the top!
After a hearty breakfast, you can explore the Cape Peninsula! Drive to the world-famous Cape of Good Hope, visit Cape Point and see the adorable penguins at Boulders Beach (optional).
The drive to Cape Point must be a part of the itinerary on any Cape Town trip (optional). Once on the peninsula, you can see both peaks - Cape Point, the geographical meeting point of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and the Cape of Good Hope. You can explore beautiful bays with gorgeous hiking trails and magnificent ocean views here.
The penguin colony in Simon's Town is an extraordinary experience. If you want to swim with the cute tailcoats, you should do it at low tide because small fine sandy bays become more evident. Furthermore, the landscape at Boulders Beach with its granite rocks is absolutely worth seeing (optional). An insider tip from us: If you feel like going to the beach and enjoying the water, we recommend the small beach of Llandudno. It is a real gemand, hidden on the west coast of the Cape region.
A township tour is essential. This is where the African heart of the city beats (optional). We recommend an excursion to Uthando. By visiting one of these townships, you will learn more about the life and culture of the suburban settlement.
In the evening, we recommend a visit to a cozy restaurant on Long Street, Kloof Street or at the waterfront. Whether it’s freshly caught fish or exotic game meat such as crocodile, kudu, ostrich - everything can be tasted here. Enjoy the view of the illuminated Table Mountain in the evening.
If you haven't been high up on Lion's Head or Signal Hill yet, you should do it today. The climb to the top is a bit arduous, but you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Table Bay and the city. By the way, shopping enthusiasts will feel right at home at the V&A Waterfront. You can also see seal colony that lives here up close.
Robben Island, which lies about ten kilometers north of Cape Town, has been associated with the struggle against apartheid in South Africa for years. No "residents" could enjoy the spectacular view of the former prison island - Cape Town's harbor, the skyline, the beaches, with the Table Mountain massif towering over everything behind them.
For 18 years, Nelson Mandela was the most prominent prisoner. In 1999, three years after the last inmates left, UNESCO included the island in its World Heritage list. No other place in South Africa better documents the country's history. Departures to Robben Island happen five times a day, from the V&A Waterfront (optional). Guided tours focus on the authenticity of the place. The estimated duration for this experience is 4 hours.
You can enjoy the evening with a walk along the promenade in Sea Point - a gigantic catwalk and the longest treadmill in the city. This is where all active Capetonians jog in the morning and evening, basking in the views.
Fancy another excursion beyond the city limits of Cape Town today? (optional) Just on the backside of Table Mountain lies another paradise - the Winelands. The drive passes gorgeous green hills, orchards and picturesque wine estates. The lush valleys of the Winelands are surrounded by mountain ranges.
The fertile soil of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl has made South African white, red and some dessert wines famous all over the world. This triangle of towns is the cradle of South African viticulture. Grapes have been grown and pressed here for more than 340 years. Savor what the region has to offer.
After breakfast, check-out takes place in the morning, depending on flight times and the drive to the airport in Cape Town. You will return your rental car and check-in for the return flight.
With many beautiful memories in your luggage, it is now time to say goodbye to one of the most beautiful countries in the world. We wish you a pleasant flight home!
