The 1690 Babylonstoren is an elegant Cape Dutch farm hotel set on 500 acres of grounds in the Drakenstein Valley. Between Franschhoek and Paarl in the heart of the Cape Wine Country, the three-hectare garden boasts over 300 types of plants, numerous types of fruit and vegetables, ducks, and chickens.

Cape Town is approximately 60 kilometers away, and Cape Town International Airport is about 45 minutes away.

Unwind at the spacious outdoor pool and relax on the beautiful sun terrace. The beautiful garden invites you to stroll and explore — learn about the local flora as you walk through the three kilometers of garden paths, or join the attentive staff as they harvest, prune, and pick the plants and fruit.

Visit the nearby lake and explore the wine country’s beauties on a walk, bike ride, or canoe tour.

The twelve chalets and suites boast a 17th and 18th century Cape Dutch farm style, with underfloor heating, thick stone walls, and a private outdoor area overlooking the wine farm garden.

In the chalets and suites, you will also find a spacious seating area, a television, a telephone, a CD player, WiFi, air conditioning, a minibar, a safe, and a coffee/tea maker. The romantic decorations perfectly round off the feel-good atmosphere.

Babel offers dishes that vary with the seasonal produce. From Wednesday to Sunday, you can order delicious lunchtime dishes, and between Friday and Sunday, regional dinner awaits you. Dine in the glass-enclosed restaurant or the courtyard with a view of the Drakenstein Mountains.

Start the day with a tasty breakfast and look forward to local fruits, freshly squeezed juices, homemade muesli, various yogurts, eggs, and ham.

You can also visit the farm’s wine cellar for fine wine tasting, a wheat store, a clock tower, a poultry yard, and a dovecote.
