Day 1, Sunday: Muscat — Get to know Oman

Let your Oman adventure begin! Your first day in Muscat will immerse you in the atmosphere and way of life of this culture. Upon arrival at the airport, you will receive your entry visa at the Travelex counter. When you meet your travel agent in the arrivals area, they will escort you to Ramada Muscat where you can round off the day to your liking. Use this time to peacefully take in your surroundings before it's time to start your Oman adventure. We highly recommend a short walk to the Muscat’s most beautiful beach promenade. Immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the city, and still leisurely past the small cafes and restaurants. On request, we can also organize a small picnic by the sea (optional with extra charge).

Day 2, Monday: Muscat — On a tour of discovery through the city

Energize your morning with a rich breakfast, then you are ready to embark on the adventure that awaits you! How about a discovery city tour of Muscat to start? Your first stop of the day: the famous Sultan Qaboos Mosque. The mosque, which is one of the largest in the world, will have you speechless. Stroll through the embassy district, see the impressive Royal Opera House, continue through the old town and end at the beautiful harbor. Walk a bit further along the waterfront to the Muttrah Souk where you can discover one of the oldest markets in Arabia — just follow the oriental smells! In Old Muscat, take time to explore the unique royal architecture of the 1970s, the ”Al Alam Palace" of the Sultan. For the museum enthusiasts, we also recommend a visit to the Bait Al Zubair Museum. With a tour guide, they will show you many different interesting insights into the history of Muscat. From there, they will guide you to a boat dock where a thrilling boat ride along the coast of Muscat begins.

Day 3, Tuesday: From Muscat to Sur — Experience the tradition of Sur up close

After enjoying the cultural impressions of Muscat, your tour continues on the panoramic road in the direction of Sur. Discover the diverse natural impressions, such as the mountain ranges of the eastern Hajar Mountains, or the white sandy beaches of the fishing village Finns. The fishing villages offers a refreshing little stop in the Arabian Gulf before your drive continues to Wadi Shab. Hike through the small ravine, discover small date plantations, look at steep rock formations, and finally jump into the crystal-clear filled pools. A spectacular surprise awaits the brave! Dive through a cave and discover the beautiful waterfalls. On a city tour, discover the only dhow shipyard that still makes boats in the traditional way without nails and glue. Find out how this works with a visit! In the evening, another adventure in Oman awaits you. Discover the nesting site of five of seven known turtle species, and get close to these animals in a special nature spectacle. With the rangers of the reserve, you can experience up close how the sea turtles come ashore in the dark for laying eggs.

Day 4, Wednesday: From Sur to Wahiba Desert — Experience the Wahiba Desert with its unusually rich colors

Look forward to your personal desert adventure in the Wahiba Desert. On your way, do not miss the famous Wadi Bani Khaled. The evergreen oasis has beautiful turquoise water pools, lush green and shady palm trees that invite you to a cool off and refresh in its baths. Are you ready for your adrenaline rush after your picnic? Drive your jeeps through the high dunes of the Wahiba Desert, and feel the sand under your wheels. After your unforgettable adventure, you will reach your accommodation at the "Sama Al Wasil Desert Camp". Enjoy the sunset while you see the spectacular play of colors light up your surroundings. Day 5, Thursday: From the Wahiba Desert to Nizwa — Fantastic Views

Let the sand trickle seep through your toes one last time before your adventure continues. Today, you leave the desert and head towards Hadjar Mountains. On the way, stop at the medieval village of Ibra where you are surrounded by impressive watchtowers. Immerse yourself in the daily lives of locals and experience the everyday life in Sinaw! Learn about the village's history and even visit the original souk. This place is not touristy but dominated by Bedouin and Omani families of the region. As you stroll through the streets, take time to close your eyes, take a deep breath and smell the different spices and incense that floods the village. Then you will reach Birkat Al Mauz, an abandoned clay village at the foot of the Jebel Akhdar sun mountain. Feast your eyes on the date plantations and water channels that lead to the center — one of the four UNESCO World Cultural Heritage of Oman. In the evening, you will reach Nizwa where you will spend the night.

Day 6, Friday: From Nizwa to Jebel Shams — Immerse yourself in the life of the Omani in Nizwa

Today, you will focus on Omani tradition. Get to know the pure life of the Omani culture by visiting the Friday Animal Market. Until 1783, Nizwa was the headquarters of the imam, and is still considered the spiritual center of the country. Immerse yourself in the local life by visiting the traditional souk, or head down to the commercial district well known for its unique silverware and ornate Bahla potteries. Another highlight is Nizwa Fort, where you can see the city and the Truble from a bird's-eye view. Do not forget to visit to the 17th-century old castle, Jabrin. This castle is considered the most beautiful in Oman and is located near the UNESCO protected Bahla Fortress. It is the oldest and largest of all Omani castles, and is one last stop before Al Hamra. To complete your adventure for the day, visit the highest mountain of Oman, Jebel Shams(3009 meters altitude). From here, you can enjoy endless views over the mountains and take breathtaking snapshots of the deep canyons. Follow the road until you pass the old village of Ghul; You have reached Sonnenberg, your mountain camp for the night!

Day 7, Saturday: From Jebel Shams to Muscat — Unforgettable views on your way back to Muscat

Desire more adventure? Charge your camera because today, you will see some interesting things that you will never forget. After breakfast, start with a leisurely walk through the small mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen. Begin your adrenaline rush adventure with a fast ride across the western Hajjar Mountains. This area offers photographers fantastic conditions to capture the endless landscape. Get lost in the green date palms, terraced fields, and refreshing springs that supply the surrounding area with crystal clear water. The water of the springs is distributed in the village using the Falaj system, the Omani irrigation system. The dried up rivver, Wadi, snakes its way into the mountains for seven kilometers where the abundance ends. Particularly noteworthy is the Wadi Bani Awf, which lies in a deep gorge. After crossing the mountain, stop at Nakhl for a quick photo! The Nakhl castle is located on a small hill with incomparable views over the mountainous surroundings. Before you know it, your adventure tour will come to an end because Muscat is not far away. As you return to the capital, you will look back on the adventures you experienced and feel like a true explorer.

Enjoy your last evening in Muscat and try to go to bed early because your morning starts early as you continue onto the second half of your roundtrip.

Day 8: From Muscat to Zanzibar — Spice island and dream beaches

Today you board the plane and travel from Oman to the spice island, Zanzibar. The island will impress you with its palaces, oriental lanes and exotic spices — a dream of 1001 Nights. After exciting days in Oman, enjoy the idyll, romantic and picturesque past of the country. The charm of Zanzibar is not only its perfect location south of the equator, but also its dream beaches. For almost 2000 years, different cultures have been living together in a small space here. Arab, Persian or Indonesian immigrants have settled here since the year 700, in addition to the native population. About 300 years after the Portuguese took over the island, Zanzibar was conquered by the Sultanate of Oman. At the time, even the capital was moved from Muscat to Zanzibar. Ships from all over the world anchored here in the wide bay of the island's capital, therefore Zanzibar became an important trading hub in the Indian Ocean trade. In the early afternoon, land at the Zanzibar Airport, where you will be warmly greeted by our Zanzibar guide. He or she will take you to the charming Kichanga Lodge where you can enjoy beautiful and relaxing days by the sea. Day 9 – 12: Zanzibar – Take it easy!

Breathe in the salty ocean scents, feel the palm trees blow to the beat of the wind and don't forget to snap the perfect postcard picture to remember these moments. When the sea recedes at low tide, watch the fishermen hunt for sea animals amongst the shallow waters. Stroll along the powdery white beach that is miles apart. The mangrove forests forms a beautiful contrast to the deep blue to pastel turquoise colored backdrop. Zanzibar allows you to feel like you have a wonderful spot of earth all to yourself. Take time to enjoy this beautiful place for relaxation you have always wanted.

Day 13: Stonetown – Lively hustle and bustle

After breakfast at Kichanga Lodge, head towards Stone Town. On the way, you will visit the spice plantations and get interesting information about the cultivation and the different spices, fruits and herbs of the island. But what are they actually used for? It ranges from medicine to cosmetics and of course, the kitchen - the possibilities are endless. After the tour, we invite you to a delicious lunch where you can taste the spices and fruits that you got to know on the tour. On a historic city tour through the mysterious Stone Town, you will feel transported back in time. Visit the Arab Fort and the Anglican Church where the former slave-catacombs can be found. Do not miss the lively market! From all the alleys, people flock to the marketplace where almost every spice is traded and sold here. Stroll through the narrow streets, past the numerous mosques and proud trading houses with richly carved doors. In the evening, dine in the hotel's "Tea Top" restaurant, overlooking the entire city and the nearby ocean - the view from here is unique!
