Feel your goosebumps rise the moment you first see the thundering rapids
Experience northern Sweden's unique landscapes
Immense masses of water make their way through Storforsen, a nature reserve that forms Europe's largest rapids! The rapids are located in northern Sweden's Pite River, where the wild waters create an unforgettable landscape. Experience the powerful forces of nature up close and hike the wood paths along the thundering currents!
During your visit to northern Sweden, don't miss out on a beautiful adventure through the wild nature around Harads. Sweden's countless natural treasures and pristine landscapes should be at the top of your to-do list. Luckily, we have an unforgettable experience planned for you at the Storforsen Nature Reserve! Did you know that Storforsen is one of the most visited places in Sweden?
In the morning, you will be picked up from Treehotel by your transfer vehicle and taken on a one hour drive to the nature reserve. On your way, take the time to notice the secluded beauty and untouched landscapes within the fascinating nature. With a little luck, you might spot some deer, eagles, or bears while driving along the forest.
When you finally arrive at Storforsen, hear the sounds of fierce rapids from afar and the smell of the green landscape surrounding you. Whether you are visiting during the icy winter season or the blooming summer, the natural phenomenon will take your breath away. With a drop of 60 meters, every second, an average of 250 m³ water flows down the valley; during the spring, the snow melts and produces double! Even in the winter, the river never freezes over entirely due to the constant movement.
For two kilometers, walk along a wooden nature path that leads through Storforsen's protected areas. Enjoy the inviting lagoons where you can swim, explore the deep caves, and discover all the beautiful viewpoints along the river. Truly immerse yourself in the quiet landscape, the fresh air, and new sensations of nature. After completing the impressive hike, your guide awaits you at the cliffs with a warm campfire and a delicious picnic for lunch.
This experience is not only perfect for families, but also an unforgettable adventure for couples or groups of friends. Regardless of the weather, sturdy shoes are essential.
